This takes an extra second or two but is worth it.

Where you want to type, move it down to the bottom of the screen, without clicking. I’ VE FOUND A SOLUTION, though NOT a "FIX"! After you place the cursor I'll come back if it starts pointer-dancing again.
#MOUSE JUMPING AROUND SCREEN WINDOWS 8 UPDATE#
It worked! When I now go Start > Control panel > View Devices and Printers > USB Input Device > Properties > Hardware > Highlight HID-compliant mouse (Mice and other pointing devices) > Properties > Driver > Update DriverĬopyright: © Microsoft Corporation. I wondered - should I update the mouse driver? So: Start > Control panel > View Devices and Printers > USB Input Device > Properties > Hardware > Highlight HID-compliant mouse (Mice and other pointing devices) > Properties > Then suddenly 2 days ago it started working! BUT the dreaded pointer-dance started I've been going mad as well! I've a Dell laptop Win 7 with touchpad plus a Trust wireless mouse (from my old Win XP laptop). Because my computer mouse is external, it is not hard to know when I'm touching it and when not. Suddenly I find myself typing in the middle of the word. My pointer slowly move while I'm typing in e.g. I'm disabled so I depend on that program.

It is very frustrating ! I cannot station my pointer outside the document/window because I use a software for automaticĬlicking. I guess it must have something to do with a Microsoft This happens only when using the mentioned Windows software. Iĭefinitely don't have any viruses or trojans. I use an external mouse and an external keyboard. This has nothing to do with the touchpad. It happens when I use Microsoft word 2010, Microsoft outlook 2010 and sometimes on Internet forums. It is amazing that this Windows bug is not fixed after so many years! This problem recently happened on my Asus laptop with Windows 7 that I bought spring 2012. It didn’t happen on my old laptop, which also had a touchpad. WAY TO BLAME THE VICTIM, Microsoft.! It’s definitely a software problem. SO NO, *NO* ABSOLUTELY NO IT IS NOT THAT WE ARE ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE TOUCHPAD. Just an annoying second to “park” the cursor below all the typing.ĪND BY THE WAY, THE CURSOR JUMPED EVEN IF I TYPED WITH ONE FINGER AND WITH WRISTS HELD HIGH ABOVE THE KEYBOARD. BEST THING I'VE FOUND SO FAR. No downloads, no reboots. Makes keyboard shortcut even more valuable, as you’ll want to leave that darn cursor at the bottom of the screen. Typing cursor might just stay where it belongs, just ahead of the typing. I figured out that the typing cursor jumped to the place where the touchpad cursor was, and figured maybe if the touchpad cursor was below the entire typing window, the The cursor where you want to type, move it down to the bottom of the screen, without clicking. I’ VE FOUND A SOLUTION, though NOT a "FIX"! After you place I hope this helps someone having the same annoying problem.LOADS and loads of people have this problem and Microsoft has not offered a fix.

Adding the “disable display scaling on high DPI settings”. I also tried a lot of different mouse and display options. The one thing that solved this strange problem was actually to change compability options on vmware.exe on the host.
#MOUSE JUMPING AROUND SCREEN WINDOWS 8 INSTALL#
I tried to use the “apt-get install open-vm-toolbox” instead of vmware tools. I tried to re-install vmware tools inside the VM. I tried a lot of things and almost googled myself to death trying to figure this out. The VM I had trouble with was running Kali Linux. This problem only occured if had an external monitor also attached. It felt like the mouse pointer was not aligned.

When I dragged window inside the VM it would end up somewhere else then where I released it.
#MOUSE JUMPING AROUND SCREEN WINDOWS 8 FULL#
When switching to full screen the mouse did not behave as expected. The mouse would jump in and out of the VM constantly while in window mode. I recently had an issue when using Vmware Workstation 10 on Windows 8.1.
